Some creative journeys begin with passion. Others begin with proximity.
For Uwakmfon Edet, photography was always around him. With a father already in the craft, the world of cameras, creativity, and visual storytelling was familiar long before it became personal. But familiarity didn’t immediately mean passion.
What started as a practical university side hustle, simply a way to earn extra income, gradually became something far greater. Over time, what once served as a means to an end transformed into a purpose.
How It Started
“Honestly, it didn’t start with passion.
My dad was a photographer, so the craft was always around me. In university, I picked it up mostly for the extra income, a side hustle that kept a little money in my pocket. Nothing more than that at the time.
But somewhere between then and finishing school, something shifted. I found myself going all in, not because I planned to, but because it just made sense.
Officially, the journey began in 2017, and what started as a means to an end has grown into something I’m deeply proud of.”
Every Frame Means Something

For some photographers, there’s one defining image, a single frame that stands above the rest.
For Uwakmfon, it’s different.
His creative journey isn’t defined by one “best photo,” but by the meaning, growth, and breakthrough each image carries.
“Honestly? I don’t have a best photo, and I mean that in the best way possible.
Every image I’ve created holds something special to me. Each shoot has its own energy, its own story, its own version of a breakthrough moment. I’m still very much in the process of creating, and I’m genuinely enjoying every single frame of it.
For me, the excitement isn’t in looking back at one defining shot; it’s in knowing that my best work is still ahead.
That’s what keeps me showing up, keep experimenting, and keep falling in love with this craft over and over again.”
The Biggest Lesson Behind the Lens

Photography has taught Uwakmfon something deeper than technical skill.
It has shown him that passion isn’t always where the journey begins; sometimes, purpose reveals itself through consistency.
“The biggest lesson it’s taught me?
You don’t always have to start with passion sometimes; purpose finds you along the way.
And beyond the craft itself, I’ve learned that good photos alone don’t build a lasting business, the experience does.
Clients can find a skilled photographer anywhere, but they come back, and they refer others, because of how you made them feel.
The comfort, the communication, the energy in the room, that’s what people remember.
The photo is the product.
The experience is the brand.”
Still Evolving, Still Creating
Uwakmfon Edet’s story is one of growth, discovery, and intentionality.
From side hustle to creative purpose, his journey proves that success doesn’t always begin with a grand vision. Sometimes, it starts with simply showing up and allowing the process to shape you.
Today, his work reflects more than photography. It reflects evolution.
And perhaps the most exciting part of his journey is this:
His best work is still ahead.
